Ingredients:

* 1 cup low-fat sour cream

* 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)

* 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

* 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or chives (optional, for garnish and flavor)

* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

* 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

* 1/8 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

Equipment:

* Mixing bowl

* Measuring spoons and cups

* Garlic press or knife

* Whisk or spoon

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Garlic: Mince the garlic cloves finely using a garlic press or a sharp knife. The finer the garlic, the more evenly it will distribute its flavor throughout the dip.

2. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the low-fat sour cream, minced garlic, lemon juice, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

3. Mix Thoroughly: Use a whisk or spoon to mix all the ingredients together until they are well combined and the mixture is smooth and creamy. Ensure there are no lumps of sour cream remaining.

4. Taste and Adjust: Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning as needed. You may want to add a little more salt, pepper, or lemon juice to suit your preference. If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, add another minced clove of garlic.

5. Chill (Recommended): For the best flavor, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together and intensifies the garlic taste. You can chill it for longer, even overnight, for an even richer flavor.

6. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, stir the dip well. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or chives, if desired.

Serving Suggestions:

* Vegetable Dip: Serve with a platter of fresh, crisp vegetables such as carrots, celery, cucumbers, bell peppers, broccoli florets, and cherry tomatoes.

* Chip Dip: Enjoy with whole-wheat pita chips, baked tortilla chips, or vegetable chips for a healthier snack option.

* Sandwich Spread: Use as a flavorful spread on sandwiches or wraps instead of mayonnaise.

* Baked Potato Topping: Top baked potatoes with a dollop of this garlic dip for a creamy and flavorful alternative to butter or sour cream.

* Grilled Meat or Fish Accompaniment: Serve alongside grilled chicken, fish, or steak for a delicious and healthy sauce.

* Burger Topping: Add a spoonful to your burger for a zingy flavor.

* Salad Dressing Base: Thin the dip with a little milk or water to create a creamy garlic salad dressing.

Chef's Tips & Variations:

* Roasted Garlic: For a milder, sweeter garlic flavor, roast the garlic cloves before mincing. To roast garlic, cut off the top of a head of garlic, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 45-60 minutes, or until soft. Let cool, then squeeze out the roasted cloves and mince.

* Herb Variations: Experiment with different herbs such as dill, oregano, or thyme to create unique flavor profiles.

* Spice It Up: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce for a spicy kick.

* Vegan Option: Substitute the low-fat sour cream with a plant-based sour cream alternative for a vegan-friendly version.

* Storage: Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

Enjoy this versatile and delicious Creamy Garlic Dip!
